service of the Notice of Conditional Bond Forfeiture, and the court is of the opinion that the
reasons set forth in the written response stating why the bond should not be forfeited are
sufficient.
The sureties have shown that the defendant was hospitalized at the time he or she was to
appear in court and have placed this court on notice that the situation existed within the time
provided by law;
The sureties have shown that the defendant was not able to attend court because of illness,
which has been proven by a doctor’s certificate or letter, and have placed this court on notice
that the situation existed within the time provided by law;
The sureties have shown that the defendant is still confined in a jail of the State of Alabama or
another state, or in the custody of another jurisdiction within the State of Alabama or
another state, or in the custody of another jurisdiction within the United States:
The sureties have shown that the defendant is deceased; or
The sureties have shown that the defendant was serving on active duty in one the military
services of the United States.
