S. Mail or Electronic Media Probation is a privilege granted by the Court to selected defendants, conditioned upon compliance with several general and special requirements established by the Court in each case. Personal interaction with the probation officer is the single most important element of the Court’s sentence in the above cited matter. The Court recognizes that reporting "in-person" may sometimes be difficult and costly, especially if the defendant resides outside of Chatham or a surrounding county. The Court, may, for good cause shown, authorize alternative reporting in cases with extenuating or special circumstances where the defendant is ALSO in compliance with all other requirements. There, the defendant's official intake will be completed and the specific requirements of the sentence will be reviewed including ALL financial obligations and the special and general conditions of probation. At any time after satisfying all initial intake requirements, a defendants may seek approval for ALTERNATIVE REPORTING through his/her probation officer.
