300.76 Instruction on Use of Verdict Form--Total Taking of Leasehold--Leasehold the Only Interest Taken When you retire to the jury room you will first select a foreperson. He or she will preside during your deliberations. Your verdict must be unanimous. A verdict form is supplied with these instructions. After you have reached your verdict, fill in and sign the verdict form and return it into court. Your verdict must be signed by each of you. You should not write or mark upon this or any of the other instructions given to you by the court. You will decide whether the defendant [name of defendant-tenant] is entitled to compensation, and, if so, the amount of that compensation. You will then complete the verdict form. [When reading this instruction, the court should now say, "which reads as follows:" and should then read the verdict form to the jury.] If you find that the defendant is entitled to compensation for the taking of his leasehold interest, insert the amount in the blank in the form. If you find that the defendant is not entitled to compensation for the taking of his leasehold interest, insert the word "None" in the blank in the form.
