160.01 Statutory Provisions At the time of the occurrence, there was in force a federal statute known as the Federal Employers' Liability Act. That Act provided that whenever an employee of a railroad is [injured] [or] [killed] while engaged in the course of his employment, the railroad shall be liable in damages [to the injured employee] [and/or] [for the death of the employee], where the [injury] [and/or] [death] results in whole or in part [from the negligence of any of the officers, agents, or other employees of the railroad] [or] [by reason of any defect or insufficiency, due to the railroad's negligence, in its [cars] [engines] [appliances] [machinery] [track] [roadbed] [works] [boats] [wharves] [other equipment]]. [Contributory negligence on the part of the injured employee shall not bar a recovery, but the damages shall be diminished by the jury in proportion to the amount of negligence attributable to such employee.]
