MISSOURI WORKERS’ SAFETY PROGRAM
Dear Missouri Employer:
Are you aware that Missouri law §287.123, RSMo, requires your workers’ compensation
insurance carrier to provide you with comprehensive safety management resources upon your
request? These required services, provided free of charge by most insurance carriers, include:
Assisting you with the development of a comprehensive safety and health program,
which pertains to your specific needs
Reviewing your written safety programs or assisting with establishing written
programs
Performing a safety and health audit, which includes on-site inspection and
consultations
Providing you with resources for case file management
Providing you with education and assistance in the development of transitional duty
programs
Additional assistance with workplace safety is available to you directly from the Missouri
Workers’ Safety Program. This public program is dedicated to assisting Missouri employers in
reducing the number of occupational injuries and illnesses in workplaces. Services are offered
to all Missouri employers who seek assistance in evaluating their current safety, health and loss
prevention programs or who wish to establish new programs. The Workers’ Safety Program
does not issue citations, levy fines or make any reports to OSHA. In addition to providing safety
assistance to employers, the Program also reviews and certifies the insurance carrier safety
programs referenced above.
The Program offers the following services free of charge and without obligation:
Safety consultants from the Program are available to visit with you at your
convenience.
Answers are provided to your questions regarding such topics as experience
modifiers, workers’ compensation laws and methods to reduce your workers’
compensation premiums.
Safety videos are available free of charge through the Program’s lending library.
A list of available safety consultants/engineers certified by the State of Missouri is
available on the Program’s website.
If you are interested in receiving assistance from your workers’ compensation carrier, or from
the Missouri Workers’ Safety Program, please fill out and return the “Request for Services” form.
Your request will be forwarded to your workers’ compensation insurance carrier on your behalf if
assistance from them is requested. We look forward to hearing from you and working with your
company.
