ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FOR INCLUSION
ON THE JUVENILE ABUSE/NEGLECT/DEPENDENCY
COURT APPOINTED LIST(S)
I, __________________________________, the undersigned applicant for admission to the
Juvenile Abuse/Neglect/Dependency Court Appointed List(s) hereby acknowledge, understand
and agree to follow certain policies and procedures which are, or may be, established for
Juvenile Abuse/Neglect/Dependency Court including, but not limited to, the following:
1.
An attorney on any of the approved list(s) for Abuse/Neglect/Dependency court shall
file a “Notice of Unavailability” (WAKE-JUV(AND)-6) for periods of time he or she
is unable to accept appointment(s) to be available for the first Nonsecure Custody
hearing. If JUV-6 is not filed, then the attorney is responsible for securing a qualified
replacement from the approved list(s).
2.
All attorneys appointed from the approved list(s) involved in a scheduled juvenile case
shall be present and on time for calendar call unless excused in advance by the
presiding judge.
3.
Juvenile Court cases take precedence over all other matters. When an attorney is
authorized by the presiding judge to be absent from Abuse/Neglect/Dependency Court
because of a conflict, the attorney shall keep the Abuse/Neglect/Dependency
Courtroom Clerk informed of his or her location at all times during the absence,
through the use of the Attorney Memo Board and by informing the courtroom clerk.
4.
An attorney’s failure to attend Abuse/Neglect/Dependency Court proceedings or Child
Planning Conferences could jeopardize further appointments.
5.
An attorney should make all reasonable efforts to prevent continuances.
6.
An attorney shall make diligent efforts to maintain sufficient contact with his or her
client in order to provide effective representation.
