Any corporation organized and existing under the laws of any state or territory of the United States may register its corporate name pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 7-1.1-9, provided its corporate name is not the same as or deceptively similar to, the name of any domestic corporation, limited partnership or limited liability company existing under the laws of this state, or the name of any foreign corporation, limited partnership or limited liability company authorized to transact business in this state, or any corporate name reserved, filed or registered which is presently on file with the Office of the Secretary of State, Corporations Division. Availability of the corporations name should be checked prior to submission of the Application for Registration of Corporate Name by calling the Corporations Division at the above telephone number. This is only a preliminary clearance and does not ensure that the name will be acceptable upon filing the Application.
