Comments:
This form is the first in a series of three forms which will be used to help
expedite the processing and closing of estates. The other two forms are
PR-1833, Petition for Extension of Time and PR-1834, Order for
Extension of Time. The Notice of Estate Administration Deadlines will be
given to the attorney and/or personal representative upon issue of the
domiciliary letters. If the attorney and/or personal representative cannot
meet the established deadlines, the attorney and/or personal representative
must petition the court for an extension. The Petition must give specific
reasons for needing an extension. The court may or may not grant the
extension. If granted, the extension will be for a date certain. Failure to
comply with the deadlines or extension of deadlines will result in the
attorney and/or personal representative being ordered to court to show
cause why he or she should not be removed and/or otherwise sanctioned.
In addition to expediting the processing and closing of estates, it is
believed that the Petitions for Extension will provide information as to the
reason for estate delays and help in establishing realistic probate
benchmarks.
